Chia Network: The ‘Most Decentralized Blockchain’ on the Planet? 🤔
Gene Hoffman, CEO of Chia Network, discussed the company's vision for a more sustainable, secure blockchain, and its partnerships.
In this episode of Unchained Premium, Unchained editor James Rubin spoke with Gene Hoffman, CEO and president of Chia Network. Chia is the 2017 creation of Bram Cohen, who also founded peer-to-peer protocol BitTorrent.
Gene delved into Chia’s origins, its focus on reducing Bitcoin’s electrical footprint, and its unique approach to smart contracts.
On Monday, Chia cut more than a third of its 70-person workforce, telling CoinDesk that the loss of banking partner Credit Suisse had led to a costly delay in its plan to trade publicly. Yet when he spoke with Unchained, Gene was optimistic about Chia’s future, highlighting its partnerships with the World Bank and others, and the institutional adoption of the network.
